An evacuation is the willful and reasonable abandonment of a life. (As stated by the article.) In the third paragraph the author suggests that you don’t know which items mean a lot to you until you lose them. An evacuation pack (according to this article) is a bag that keeps three days of water and food, plus extra medications, if possible.
FEMA is a Federal Emergency Management Agency, which helps to coordinate the response to a disaster which has occurred in the United States and which overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities. The author recommends taking a small bag of recommended provisions, plus a list, which has recommended items to take in your home including food, water, and extras. The list would be short enough so that you could gather everything up in 10 minutes.
The ten items I would choose would be any food (or water) that I could get, and stuff in a bag (in the case of water, a cup of some kind), because I wouldn’t know how much money I’d (or anyone else in my situation for that matter, or my family) have, or could use for food, etc. I’d also take my wallet, because it has a few spare dollars in it that would be useful. Probably a pillow or blanket, because I don’t know where I’d stay after that, and wherever it is, it wont be very comfortable! I’d also bring my MP4 player (and its recharger), because who could live without music? I’d also bring an extra pair of shoes, because I wouldn’t know when I’d get another pair, and just because it’s good to have an extra pair. I’d also bring my longbow because it is very expensive, and my favorite hobby. I’d also bring my computer CD with the copy of my book, because I enjoy writing and have worked very hard on that book. Along with that there would be some of my different trophies because they mean a lot to me, such as the ones for school, etc. Last I’d bring my saxophone, because I love playing it, and I own it, so it would be a disappointment to lose a two hundred dollar instrument. Those are the ten items I’d bring with me if I had to evacuate my home.

"What To Save From A Fire"
I read the "What To Save From A Fire" article and I am choosing to do the extra assignment. Starting off with the questions now. Question one was, "what is an evacuation? What does the author suggest it is in the third paragraph?" I answered, An evacuation is a sudden emergency in which you have to leave your household or wherever you are and you have a limited time to leave before things get worse. In paragraph 3, the author says, " An evacuation is-potentially-the willful and reasonable abandonment of a life." Question number two asked, " What is an evacuation pack according to the article?" My answer is, according to the article, an evacuation pack is something you have prepared in case of an emergency evacuation. In the evacuation pack are some valuable items of yours that you wish to take with you. Moving on to question three, " What is FEMA?" FEMA is the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Which is the Agency of the US government tasked with Disaster Mitigation, preparedness, Response and Recovery planning.
If I were to have to evacuate and could choose ten items it would be very hard for me, but I would be able to choose ten priorities. First off, I would take a pillow and a real big, thick, warm blanket so I had something for slightly comfortable bedding. Secondly, I would take my Holy Bible because religion means a lot to me, and there's not much else to do in an emergency like that but pray and hope God answers. You can also read the Bible for extra support. Now, I would take a change of clothes so I didn't have to wear the same clothes for a long time and I could freshen up a bit . Then, I would be sure I had my inhaler since I have asthma pretty bad. Without my inhaler I could be in danger if I had an asthma attack. I would definitely bring my favorite guitar, my Epiphone Les Paul Classic. I would be so sad without it! Playing guitar is one of my favorite hobbies. Then, I could have some entertainment too! I would be sure I had my glasses because I obviously can't wear contacts for a long time because they'll dry up. So I think I'd be better off just wearing glasses. Next, I will make sure I have a first aid kit in case of any injuries or headaches/stomach aches. You always need something in case someone gets hurt. Last but not least, I would bring a couple items of food such as crackers, apples, granola bars etc. and I would also bring bottled water so I had something to drink. I would use all of these items for not only me but I would also share with my family. So, those are all the items I would take in case of evacuation.

An evacuation is when you are asked to leave someplace like your home, school, or work. The author says it is "Potentially-the willful and reasonable abandonment of a life." An evacuation pack is anything to be prepaired for an evacuation, the artical says that people from the Gulf coast are very creative, with things like floating storage boxes for important papers, and garbage cans that can be used as toilets. The author suggests to keep a small bag of recommended previsions along with items you would need for yourself such as medications. This should be updated yearly. FEMA stand for Federal Emergency management agency they help people get back on there feet after a diesaster. I would take my dog Scooter, Tigger the cat, my cell phone to use for emergencies. MY ipod for something to pass the time. Food and water for me and my family and my pets. Blankets and pillows to keep me worm and to have my own bedding at the shelter. Extra pair of shoes and a change of clothes.(paints, shirt, socks, and underwear.) these are the items I would bring with me if I had to evacuate my house. 7B-Hollinger.

An evacuation is the vacating of inhabitants of a threatened region for protective reasons. The Author suggests that evacuation is the willful and reasonable abandonment of a life. She is saying that you leave your life’s material possessions behind knowing that there is a very good chance you will never see them again. According to the article an evacuation pack is a bag of recommended provisions that includes items such as water, food, flashlights, batteries, etc. FEMA stands for Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA is a government organization that builds and supports the nation's emergency management system. They lead federal efforts to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters that overwhelm local ability. FEMA's services include planning and training, Money Donations, and offering financial assistance to individuals, businesses, and communities to aid in recovery. The author suggests you should learn how to text-message, do not let your kids watch TV news, and never depend on the government to help you.
If I had to evacuate my home I would take my baby blanket, a pillow,
a blanket, Sudoku and a pen, a book, my dogs, my bird and rabbits, my purse,
a brush and ponytail holders, and last my contacts and solution. I would take my baby blanket because my mom got it for me before I was born and it is special to me. I would take a pillow just incase I need one because there isn’t any at the shelter we are going to. I would take a blanket for the same reason. I would take Sudoku and a pen because I like to play it when I am bored. I would take a book because I could read it to help me stop thinking about the circumstances. I would take my dogs because I love my dogs. I would take my bird and rabbits because I love them too. I would take my purse because it has everything that I will ever need. It has my wallet, and cell phone and pretty much anything else you could think of. I would take a brush and ponytail holders so I could fix my hair. Last I would take my contacts and contact solution so I could see.

An evacuation is when you have to leave your home with just a few things due to a disaster. The author says it is a willfull and reasonable abandonment of life. An evacuation pack are things that are ruthlessly compact and wildly creative. FEMA stands for Federal Emergency Management Agency. They help people who go through disasters by working with the government and other agencies. The author suggests that you keep a small bag of provisions and a list of things that could be gathered in ten minutes. Also, that list should be updated yearly.
The ten items I would take would be my pets because I could not leave them behind. They are important to me. I would take pictures because you cannot replace them. I would take food and water because you don't know how much will be available. I would also take dishes so you have something to eat on. I would take a blanket and pillow so you could be comfortable where ever you go. I would pack clothes and shoes since you might not be able to wash the ones you are wearing. If I could I would take our truck so we would have something to travel in. I would take all of our important papers for insurance so we could start over. I would definitely take money because you will always need that. I would take my CD's and player so I would not be bored.

An evacuation is when you are being forced to leave somewhere because of a hazardous situation. In the 3rd paragraph the author suggest that you don't know how precious something is to you until it's gone.An evacuation pack is a pack of water, food, and medications.
FEMA stands for Federal Emergency Management Agency. They help coordinate the response to a disaster that has occured in the U.S, and which overwhelms the resources of the authorities. The author reccomendstaking a small bag necessities, and a list of things you would take with you. The list would have to be small enough to gather up everything in 10 minutes or less.
The 10 items I would take with me would be food & water because I don't know when I'll have a shelter or a place to live, my purse so I can put on some perfume if I'm not able to shower for a while so I don't stink, my dad's memory box so that way I could remember him and all the good and bad times we went through together, some pictures from when I was little so i can remember my childhood when i'm older, I would take a pillow and blanket so I'd stay very warm, shoes so i could walk to places and not hurt my feet, and my mp3 player, and laptop for entertainment. Thoes are the 10 items I would bring with me if I had to evacuate my house.

I have read the article "What To Save From A Fire" and now to answer the questions you have asked.
An evacuation is considered by the author as the willfl and reasonable abandonment of a life. In the third paragraph the author suggests that in a way you lose your identity but you are also saved. According to the article an evacuation pack is a small bag of reccomended supplies that will most likely be needed. Also make a small list of extra things that are important to you, to bring along in case you are in an immediate evacuation. FEMA is the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which helps to organize the response to a disaster that has occured in the United States. Towards the end of the article the author suggests to pack a small bag of reccomended provisions, plus a list of things that you would be able to pack in less than 10 minutes.
If i only could bring 10 items with me it would be very hard to choose. I guess first i would bring my cell phone because i would definentally need to be able to communicate, my charger too. Then definentally my iPod and charger because without music basically life is nothing. I would bring my favorite pillow because i have had it for years and it has sentimental value. Definentally a hoodie and some extra clothes. A hairbrush and toothbrush and any extra money i could find. Of course family, friends, and pets but if those don't count then my final item would be my favorite book.

“An evacuation is--potentially--the willful and reasonable abandonment of a life,” Amanda Ripley says in her article, which means with your own free will (and a good reason) you give up your life in a place. That reason may be something like a flood, tornado, or fire. In circumstances like these you may need an evacuation pack. An evacuation pack contains things that you cherish and need to survive. It is your life line. Another life line is FEMA. FEMA is the Federal Emergency Management Agency--it is the governmental agency that basically helps when a disaster happens. The author suggests you should keep a small bag of provisions and a list of important things. The list should be small enough to get in 10 minutes.
Here are the ten things I would save in an emergency. I would save my family and pet cat because I love them. I would also save my saving account card, my money, and the “important box” we have because they have important things in them. I would make sure to take my sister’s blanket and things I borrowed from my friends because they are important to them. I would also take a gift I made for dad and mom’s photo albums because my mom and dad cherish them. Last I would rescue the PS2 because I really enjoy it.

Optional Assignment
An evacuation is to vacate an area. In this article the author suggest that it is the willful and reasonable abandonment of life. An evacuation pack is something you would take in case of an emergency that you had packed and waiting and could grab in just a few seconds. This would contain items such as food and water and medications for a few days. FEMA stands for Federal Emergency Management Agency. They go to areas in our country that have had disasters. The author recommends that you should have a small amount of provisions in case of an emergency such as a hurricane or other disaster.
The ten items I would evacuate with would be a PSP, phone, plastic army soldier, one water bottle, a pair of shoes, my journal, my lockbox that has my personal information, picture of my friends, extra clothes, and a coat. I would take my PSP and army soldier to have something to do. I would take my shoes, clothes and coat because I may need these. The lockbox that has all of my information such a birth certificate and social security card. I would have the phone to call my friends. I would take the journal so I could write down what I experienced. The picture would be to remind me of my friends. I would take the water bottle because there may not be any clean water available.

An evacuation is the act fleeing of due to a crisis. Amanda Ripley, the author of Times article What to Save from a Fire, states that it is “the willful and reasonable abandonment of a life. She also says that an evacuation pack is a bag or other container with three days of provisions and extra medications ready to be used in the event of an evacuation. FEMA, Federal Emergency Management Agency, contain lists of suggested items such as canned foods, disinfectant, and a portable radio. Ripley suggests just to keep a small amount of supplies and a small list of other easy to gather items that bear either financial or sentimental value.
Some of the items I would take would be: a sleeping bag, canned foods, water, toolkit, money, heavy clothes, and a can opener for obvious reasons. I would also take a soccer ball for entertainment, a cell phone for keeping in contact with my family, and a portable radio with extra batteries so I can keep track of the condition of the crisis. These are some of the items I would bring with me if I had to evacuate my home.

Evacuation is being forced out of where you live, or currently are.
The author is suggesting it is a reasonable abandonment of a life. An evacuation pack is or could be something that you would take with you in case of an emergency. Like something with important sentimental value, or something that could help you survive. FEMA is the short name or acronym for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's author recommends taking a small tote. Something that you could easily carry. of recommended items, plus a list, which has recommended items to take in your home including food, water, and extras.
If i only could take 10 items when I had to evacuate my home i would probably take my photo album because photos are really important to me. I would take my dogs because I love them. I would take my laptop because it has important files on it. I would take my Cell phone because I don't think I would be able to live without texting. =]
I think that I might take my clothes, because i wouldn't want to have to go around without clothes on. I would make sure that I took my parents if they didn't know that we had to evacuate would food and water to be able to survive. I would also take any kind of money that I have just in case of any more emergency's. I would also bring my ipod because music is a big part of my life. The last thing that i would bring would be my hermit crab because i have had him for awhile, and i would feel bad if I left him there. That is the 10 items I would bring.

An evacuation is when you are forced to leave a place such as your home or somewhere you live. In the third paragraph the author is saying the items you take is sorta like your identity or something you care about and you don't realize how important it is until its gone. According to the article the evacuation pack is a pack of important items you will need to take in a emergency. The Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) is a program that helps with disasters and emergency.
If I could only bring 10 items . They would probably be something important in my life like...My family because i would need them. My computer because I would need to stay in touch with people. A phone so i can call my friends and family. My pets because I love them. Money so i can shop and buy things. Food and water because i sorta need them to survive photo album so I can save pictures of people. Some extra clothes. A tooth brush and a hairbrush. Then I would bring a T.V so I can watch my favorite shows .Then i guess that would be it.
